Cherry Crisis is the kind of band that makes you stop and pay attention from the first song. A girlband composed of soon-to-be Northeastern graduates, they brought something to the stage that felt genuinely earned. Opening for Malcolm Todd at Northeastern's Springfest at Roadrunner, they walked out to a venue already packed from the floor to the balcony, and held every bit of that energy. People were chanting founder and guitarist Riley Chapman's name from the balcony, holding up phones with "I love Riley" on the screen. That is not opening night nerves, that is a band that has been quietly building something in Boston for a long time. There is something about photographing a group like this, knowing that graduation is right around the corner and the lineup as you know it might not exist much longer, that makes every frame feel a little more important. Glad I was there for this one.
